Jazz is undeniably the American continent’s most valuable contribution to musical art. It emerged out of the diverse culture of this land in the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries and, within a short period of time, began to influence music and musicians throughout the world.
More than a dixieland band, Chris Canzoneri and his ensemble have fashioned a humble and heartfelt tribute to the early masters of jazz who played their music in New Orleans, Chicago, and New York. Such artists as Scott Joplin, Buddy Bolden, W.C.Handy, Jelly Roll Morton, Louis Armstrong, Sidney Bechet, Duke Ellington, Bix Beiderbecke, Red Nichols, and so many others created music that has one way or another touched the lives of all Americans and many other peoples as far away as the most distant corners of the earth.
